Supplies
Materials:
Piezo transducer (available from electronic suppliers)
Flexible audio cable
1/4” male audio jack
small binder clip
Piece of rigid plastic or metal about 3/4” x 1.5”
Small plastic cap or lid
Tools:
Drill and 1/8” bit
Soldering iron and solder
Hot glue gun
Needle nose and cutting pliers, wire strippers
PREPARE THE BRACKET
Drill a hole near one end of the metal or plastic piece. This will be your bracket. Push the wires of the transducer through the hole and hot glue the metal side of the transducer to the bracket.
ASSEMBLE, CONNECT AND SOLDER
Strip both ends of the cable. Solder the two wires to the transducer wires. Drill a hole in the side of the cap to make a notch. Separate the two solder joints. Squeeze a gob of hot glue over the connections as insulation. Push the cap over the connection so the wire exits the notch. Make sure there is enough hot glue to hold the cap in place. Attach the binder clip to the opposite end of the bracket. Solder the wires on the other end of the cable to the two connections on the jack.
TEST
Clip the bracket to the sound hole of your guitar so the transducer touches the flat top. Plug the jack into your amplifier and play. You will be amazed at the sound quality.
