Are you looking for a freaky center piece or just some decoration for halloween? Here is a step by step on how i did these carnivorous plants our of paper maché. (Sadly, I lost the pictures of the process so it will be mostly written steps by steps.

Supplies

PVA glue

Balloons

newspaper/paper napkins

scissors

tape

paint

can or a pot

some wire

white playdough for the teeth

fake plants (optional)

For the carnivorous plant with closed mouth is enough to inflate one balloon to the desired size.

For the one with open mouth you'll need one or two balloons. It depends if you want to make the upper mouth bigger than the under mouth. In that case you inflate a balloon of one size then the next one a bit smaller and you make them fit together.

Soak strips of newspaper in a mixture of white glue and water, and cover the balloon with the strips. Repeat the process at least 3 times and let it dry. Thats how you do the head. If you want it with the mouth open once the balloons are dried you cut them in half and refill them with newspaper to give them mouth like shape.

For the tong you grab a (desired length) piece of wire and fold it until you have the shape you want for the tongue and cover it in newspaper and tape. All of this will be covered in paper maché later to give an uniform look.

Shape the stem with wire and cover it with newspaper to give it thickness and cover it on tape, like this we support the plant’s head. Apply strips of newspaper soaked in glue to the stem of the plant as well, and let it dry.

For the base, choose a can or pot, and use thick cardboard to trace the radius or surface of the base. Cut it to create a round shape that fits inside the can. Make a hole in the center to insert the stem of the carnivorous plant and tape it to make sure the plant's stem gets attached to the base.

With wire you form the "tentacles" that will also be coming off the base and cover them in newspaper and tape to make it thicker. you can use glue sticks (hot gun) or just tape.

Paint and Decorate

Once everything is attached and covered in paper mache and fully dried, you paint it as you wish. The bought dough is if you wanna give them teeth. I added some fake ivies to bring it more to life.
