Cute Miniature Foldable House
This is a fairly easy and fun project where you can make a cute little house that folds flat for easy storage! It's a nice little thing to display or play with, whatever you want to do with it!
Supplies
- Box
- Paper (Black, and a color you like!)
- Scissors
- Tape
- Glue (Liquid and glue-stick)
- Pencil (Or any writing tool)
OPTIONAL
- Yarn
- Muffin papers
- Any other accessories you want to add
Cut the Box
Flatten the box and cut it so that the entire box is flat and opened up to the inside, which is going to be the outside of the box! Draw a square on the box and cut it out. Then cut the square into 4 smaller squares. These will be the walls of the house!
Put Up the Walls
Line up the 4 squares with the side that you want to be the outside of the house facing down. Tape them together and fold them into a cube without a top or bottom. Tape the cube so that it will hold its shape.
Make the Roof Pieces
Draw a triangle on the cardboard that has ends the same length as the length of the squares making up the cube. Cut out the triangle, and make 3 more just like it.
Build the Roof
Tape the triangles onto the top of the house, and then use more tape to secure them into place. But DO NOT tape the triangles together, or else the house will not fold!!!
DECORATE!!!
Use paper to decorate the house! I used the black paper for the roof, and chose white for the rest of the house. You can use tape or glue to do this.
I cut windows in the front and sides of the house, and I drew a door on the front. I also glued a strand of blue yarn around the top of the house, to give it more character.
One more thing I did is I cut muffin papers and taped them above the side windows to create curtains.
You can add anything else to your house to make it special!
How It Folds
Lay the house on its side and gently press down until it sits flat. You can easily slide it into a bookcase or store it wherever you want!
More Ideas
Now another extra-fun part: What are you going to do with your house? Are you going to play with it? Set up a cool scene with Lego characters? Put a light inside and let it glow out the windows? Or simply have it on display? It's entirely up to you!
I hope that you had fun with this project!
