DIY Slingshot Gun
Here's how to make a fun DIY slingshot gun for target practice.
Supplies
Hot glue gun, scissors, box cutter knife, ruler, cardboard, wooden dowels, pencil and rubber bands.
Starting the Base of the Gun
To start creating our gun we need to make the base. Start by cutting out five pieces of cardboard measuring fifteen" in length and two" in width. Punch a hole on both sides of each piece of cardboard. Be careful to align them perfectly. Take one of the pieces of cardboard and glue two wooden dowels in the holes on either side. Now glue on the other four pieces of cardboard. The dowels should be level to the cardboard when you're done.
Adding the Groove
Now it is time to add the grove where the rubber band rests. Cut two pieces of cardboard fifteen" in length and 1/2" in width. Glue these to the top of the gun.
Adding the Sling
Now that we have created the base of the gun, we need to add the sling which will propel the projectile. Start by glueing two or more rubber bands to the bottom of the gun in the front. (the thickness and number of rubber bands will determine the power of the gun) Next, cut four pieces of thin cardboard - two slightly smaller than the first two. Now glue the smaller pieces on top of one of the bigger pieces and glue the last larger piece on the top to create a mini cardboard sandwich. Glue the rubber band into the notch on the cardboard sandwich that you just created. Now our gun is done!
Shooting the Gun
Time for some target practice! Pull the rubber band back to the end of the slingshot gun and hold it with your hand. Load a BB or some other projectile in the front of the rubber band. To shoot, release the rubber band and it will fling the BB at high speeds. You can use this gun for target shooting and it is an easy and fun project to build. I hope this instructable was helpful and you had fun making this project!
