I wanted to make a nice patterned paper easily. After experimenting for a while, I figured out how to do this.

Supplies

You need:

Watercolor paper

pencil

Watercolor pencils (use 3-4 different shades of the same color)

A water brush, or regular paintbrush and water.

Gold or silver paint pen (optional)

On your paper, draw wavy lines, or whatever pattern you want your paper to have. For best results, keep it simple.

With your darkest color of watercolor pencil, draw over your pencil lines.

Going from darkest to lightest, draw your other colors in. don't worry about it looking good, you will smooth it out with water.

Brush over everything with water, following the lines, and blending everything together. After it is dry, you can add some lines with a metallic gold or silver paint pen.

When you're done, you can do so many things with this beautiful paper! I used it to make inserts to go inside a clear phone case. You can also make bookmarks, cards or use it as scrapbook paper!
