The Kindle 3 is my favorite e-reader, bar none. I used to be absolutely obsessed with it, especially its buttons. After buying the Kindle Paperwhite later on, I actually missed the joy of flipping pages with those buttons. Since the Kindle's original system wasn't particularly user-friendly, I installed the Duokan system on this Kindle at the time—it was simply fantastic for books, excerpts, and annotation features. Unfortunately, the e-ink screen is too fragile, and it eventually broke. Here, I'm only showing the process of decorating the cover, dedicated to my Instructables friend WreckerX.

Choose a suitably sized artwork to copy; I selected Van Gogh's "Wheatfield with Crows." I really like the colors and composition of this painting. Van Gogh's paintings have vivid colors and don't require too many hues. Of course, my technique is quite clumsy—it's just for decoration, so please forgive my shortcomings.

Use a pencil to draw the entire artwork's outline on the Kindle's leather case. Then, proceed to color based on the sketch; the entire process is very simple. The important thing is to have fun.
