Easy Christmas Tree Butter Cookies
Hello everyone!
In this Instructable I will be sharing a recipe for these Christmas tree cookies. It is a tradition in our household to make them every year and everybody loves them. And the best part about these cookies is that you can make the recipe easily with your kids!
Let's get started!
Supplies
Christmas Tree Butter Cookies Recipe:
- 2 eggs
- 200 g sugar
- 250 g of butter
- 200 g of joghurt
- 1 tsp of baking soda
- 1 packet of vanilla
- 700-800 g of all purpose flour
Other equipment you will need:
- A large bowl
- Gloves
- Cookie cutters
- Rolling pin
Make the Dough
Start out by adding the baking soda to the joghurt and mix well.
In a separate bowl add the melted butter, eggs, sugar and vanilla.Combine them with the joghurt and soda mixture and mix everything very well.
Gradually add the flour and start forming a dough. The dough will be sticky at first but it will become smooth as you work with it.
Set it aside and let it rest.
Cut the Trees
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C.
Flour your work surface and cut the dough into three balls.
Using a rolling pin roll out the dough and make sure it doesn't stick to your work surface. The thickness of your dough should be around 5-8 mm.
Cut out the shapes you desire - I used a tree,a star and a bell.
Place the cookies in a pan with a baking sheet and bake until they are golden brown for around 15-20 minutes.Baking time will be different for everyone so keep an eye on your cookies.
Once they are ready set them aside to cool down completely.
Glaze
While your cookies are cooling make your glaze.
You will need:
- 150 ml of milk
- 100 g of powdered sugar
- Green food coloring
Combine all of these ingredients together until you get a paste-like consistency.
You can either dip your cookies in the glaze or use a brush to ''paint'' the trees.I did the latter.
Let It Snow
To complete the look of the trees sprinkle some powdered sugar on top of them to make it seem like snow and that's it!
Bon appetit!
