In this project, we are going to build one ourselves using kraft paper, glue, and simple tools.

Supplies

Materials

  1. Kraft paper sheets (size :70 cm X 50 cm) (we are gonna need 18 of them)
  2. Glue sticks (2-5 sticks)
  3. Strong liquid glue (like UHU) (one)
  4. Decorative strip (one
  5. Cloth (optional, for surface finishing)
  6. Foam Paper or Card(one) => (you can actually use thin wood or even cartoon)

Tools

  1. Scissors
  2. Craft knife
  3. Pen or pencil
  4. Measuring tape

Shape the Kraft Paper Sheets Into an “M” Fold

We are folding it in a zigzag pattern so that, from the side, it looks like the letter M.

This creates the base structure for the honeycomb effect.

Up – Down – Up

each turn should be around 17.5 cm and you need to be precise about it :)

Cut the Folded Sheets in Half

now the shape should be like : (^)

you could cut each one ,so each paper would be 50cm X 17.5 cm but it would be much more work so be ready :)

Glue the “^” Papers

  1. Apply glue in the middle and end of each paper like image (1 & 2)
  2. then fold the paper together

at this point we should have 36 of them so you don't loose count :)

Final Step of Shaping the Honeycomb

Once all of your 36 papers are dried, we start to stack them on each other.

Apply the glue like in the images (1 & 2).

Make sure that after gluing, you will have:

  1. Two open places at the glued ones (step 3)
  2. One open place in between them for this step

Finish stacking all the papers on top of each other.

You will end up having the shape of image (3).

And that is how we shape the honeycomb stool : )

Create and Attach the Side Foam Frames

Screenshot 2026-03-03 123231.png
Screenshot 2026-03-03 123042.png

we will prepare two foam frames — one for each side of the honeycomb structure

These frames will:

  1. Strengthen both sides
  2. Keep the shape clean and stable
  3. Hold the decorative strip
  4. Allow us to tie the stool when it is closed or open
  5. Cut the Foam Frames onto two (17.5 cm × 50 cm) pieces (image 1)
  6. Cover the Frames with Cloth (optional but it will make the stool look way better : ) ) (image 2)
  7. Attach the Decorative Strip (Make sure: The strip is centered & long enough to wrap around the stool )
  8. Burn the ends a little so they don’t fray(image 3)
  9. you should end up with image (4 : ) )

Make the Seat

Screenshot 2026-03-03 123926.png
Screenshot 2026-03-03 123920.png
  1. Cut the Foam
  2. Cut a circle from the foam board for the seat (image 1)
  3. Add a Comfy Layer
  4. Attach a soft, comfy material on top so it’s nice to sit on (image 2)
  5. Make sure the bottom stays flat so it spreads your weight evenly on the stool
  6. Cover with Cloth
  7. Wrap the seat in cloth for a clean, finished look(image 4)

And that’s it — your seat is ready!

Enjoy Your Stool

That’s it — your stool is ready to use!

It’s super sturdy and can hold 200–300 kg without any problem.
