A person can function normally only when he feels fit and healthy. Often people experience an upset stomach or pain in the stomach which can make him feel quite uneasy and can even disrupt his activities.

Stomach is that body part which directly or indirectly connected to all our body parts. Though as per science all our body parts are controlled by brain, which is true but if stomach is empty then even mind stops working. So it wouldn’t be wrong to say that in order to make our mind work properly, our stomach should be happy first, i.e., it should be full and healthy. Taking care of stomach is very crucial and any kind of negligence can lead to other serious health issues. After all none of us like an upset stomach, then whether it is stomach pain, cramps, vomiting sensation or even nausea or even bloating.

Stomach ache can affect both child as well as adult and can be a momentary pain as well as last for long duration if it is chronic. Since stomach comprises of multiple organs it becomes difficult to pinpoint which part of stomach is paining but a person can follow certain home remedies in general to get rid of the discomfort he experiences in his stomach. 1. Shifting to BRAT diet- BRAT stands for banana, rice, applesauce and toast. These 4 things should be made part of diet when a person suffers from stomach upset as they are low in fibre and easily absorbed into the system. These foods help in fighting off nausea and are taken even on an upset tummy.

2. Cumin seeds- This is a very age old practice to use cumin seeds to settle stomach problems. Cumin seeds are to be boiled in water and then cooled and consumed. This helps vastly in digestion problems and reduces stomach pain.

3. Consuming probiotics- probiotics are natural healthy good microorganisms which help in soothing the gut and have a cooling effect on stomach. They are most effective for diarrhea related stomach pain and irritable bowel syndrome. Curd is the best natural probiotic and is very effective in settling an upset tummy.

4. Juice of ginger lemon and mint is very effective for flatulence and stomach pain associated with constipation.

5. Many a people also swear by consuming ginger and garlic for stomach pains. Having a raw garlic clove is known to aid in digestion and lowering stomach ache.

6. Cut down on all spicy foods and non vegetarian foods and include lots of fruits and vegetables and low calorific value foods to aid in digestion. Fruits like banana and papaya are very effective in reducing stomach pain

12. Fennel seeds also work great to lower stomach ache. Chewing these seeds can increase secretion of digestive juices and also helps in irritable bowel syndrome and stomach related disorders.

13. The abdomen of patient can also be massaged with juices of ginger and garlic to relieve stomach pain.

14. Soaking in hot water tub- A person can fill bathtub with hot water and can lay in it for 15-20 mins in it to soothe the muscles and thus helping the person to feel less pain
