How to Make Swan-shaped Cookies (without a Special Cookie Cutter)
This is going to be a super quick and easy tutorial on how to make your very own swan-shaped cookies!
Supplies
- Cookie dough of your choice- it must be a dough that will hold its shape during the baking process, such as most gingerbread cookies or sugar cookies
- a cutting tool
Roll Out Your Dough
- Aim for around 1/4 of an inch thick.
Cut Out Some Circles
- Decide how big to cut the circles based on how large you want the swans to be- when in doubt just go for a happy medium.
Slice Your Circles Exactly in Half
Make a Thin Slice Almost All the Way Across the Flat Side of the Semi-circle
- Be careful here, you don't want to decapitate your swan, about three quarters of the way across should be right.
Curve This Partial Slice to Form the Neck of Your Swan
- Gently curve the neck into shape.
Shape the Head
- With soft pinches, give your swan a tear-drop shaped head.
Add the Tail Feathers
- We'll add the tail feathers with two simple cuts at angles on the tail.
- Pay close attention to the photos to see the angles and length of the cuts.
Bake Them!
- Now make yourself a whole flock of swans and pop them in the oven to bake as directed for your cookie dough of choice
~Note that you may need to take a minute or two off of the time in the oven, since you don't want the small details of your swans to get too crispy.
Et Voila!
And there you have it, quick and easy swan cookies without a cookie-cutter! Decorate to your preference!
