How to Tune a Guitar
My name is Caleb Cromer. I have been learning and practicing how to play guitar since 2014. Along the way I have picked up a few things. One of the most simple things a person can do to make a guitar sound better is to tune it. In this lessons I will teach how to tune a guitar to any tuning. After this lesson anyone will be able to tune their guitar in standard tune.
Supplies
Guitar, guitar tuner, and guitar pick.
Attaching the Tuner
The first step is to grab a tuner. This is a little device with a clip on it that is attached to the head of the guitar. The head of the guitar is located on the opposite end of the base which is the section that is played with the picking hand. The guitar has 3 parts. The base, neck, and the head. The head is the smallest section of the guitar.
Tuning the Guitar
After the tuner is attached it can be turned on by clicking the small button on the tuner. When it is turned on depending on the string played it reads the note/tuning of the string. To get standard tuning on a six string guitar the tuner must read out EADGBE. Only one string can be tuned at a time so be sure to go in order of strings either from the top to bottom or bottom to top. If started from the top the thickest string will be played which is the first E. After that go to the second thickest underneath it which would be A and so on from there. To ensure the player is getting close to the target tuning feel the strings to make sure they aren’t too tight or too loose. The string should be able to pull up about a quarter inch. Anything tighter or looser and the tuning is headed in the wrong direction of standard.
