I made a tutorial for leather rings. They are very simple and fun to make!

Supplies

something to cut on

Choosing the Leather

First you have to choose the right leather for the ring.

It should be soft but sturdy, so that it will feel comfortable and also keep its shape.

Cutting the Leather

After you have chosen the leather, you need to cut it into a strip.

Then measure the circumference of your finger by wrapping the strip around it and cutting it where the ends meet.

Adding the Holes

Next use an awl to punch some holes in the end of the strip, you can do two to four holes.

Then fold the strip in half and add holes to the other end of the strip by poking through the first holes.

Choose a Thread

Pretty simple step, just choose a waxed thread that would look good on the leather you chose and get a needle that fits.

Begin Stitching

Pull the thread through the first hole in the leather.

To secure the thread light the end on fire to melt the wax and then press down on it with the blade of a knife.

This will cause the waxed thread to melt and stick to the leather.

Finish Stitching

After the thread is secure stitch the two ends of the leather together.

First connect three holes diagonally going downwards then stitch diagonally going upwards.

Then secure the thread again by burning and pressing.

Decorate

There are so many different ways to do this!

You can add more stitches in different patterns and colors, or glue on feathers, add buttons, or dye them.

And that's it! A very simple way of making a leather ring.
