Little Library & Bench
This project explores a seating area, particularly a bench that extends into a space to also act as a little library, exploring how urban spaces can better design spaces for people.
Supplies
For this project, the design was done on Rhino/Revit
The rendering application used was Lumion
The model was made using wood, chipboard, and canvas paper
Process Work
In exploring iterations, I designed and drafted an idea of how this bench/seating area would be multi-functional, incorporating shade, a little library, and be interactive for people, using natural/ sustainable materials such as repurposed wood.
Elevation Drawing
This elevation drawing shows how, through the curved canopy and carved design, the bench acts as more than just a regular seating area, but as a space that offers refuge and a chance to explore knowledge through books.
Materials Axon
Through more sustainable incorporation, the materials of the structure focus on constructability with environmental awareness, materials that are readily available to be designed/ placed into any community.
Moments of Life
This collage exploration of the seating/bench, it depicts how a well-designed concept, regardless of how small it may seem, can have an impact. A place that is comforting, accessible, bringing a feeling of peace, curiosity, and renewal continuously draws people in, changes their perspective, and others as well.
Rendering
A rendering showing how it would fit into the lives of people, be perceived by passersby, and blend with its sourroundings.
Addition Renderings
Addition Rendering depict the incorporation of plants, the use of the shelves, and how people would interact with it.
