Mini Caramel Apple Cups

I've always loved apples and peanut butter. I also love creating/art. One evening, my brain somehow created this idea of a mini apple cup in my head, so I quickly went to the kitchen and set out to make that idea a reality. Once the "apple cup" had been created, I knew I had to share it on Instructables.

Enjoy reading (and hopefully making), and don't forget to check out my other Instructables!

Supplies

  1. Apples (large)
  2. Peanut butter and/or caramel
  3. A kitchen knife
  4. Toothpicks
  5. A small spoon
  6. A cutting board

Cut Those Apples

Take your kitchen knife and cut the apple into 4 pieces. It's important to cut deep enough into the apple so your cup will be big enough, but not too deep. It's even more important that you find large apples so your apple cup can be full-sized.

Note: later in the project I'll be using all the extra pieces of apple I didn't use to create a caramel apple salad, so if you also want to make that, make sure to save all the pieces of apple you don't use for your cups.

Apple Squares

Take your 4 pieces of apple and cut off the skin. You are welcome to use a vegetable peeler if you want, but a knife should work just fine. Once the skin is removed, cut them into a square-like shape.

Carving the Cups

Take your knife and carve a cup-like shape into the apple square. Leave enough room for the handle as well. Now take a toothpick, and carve the handle. Once finished with that, carve the cup part and use your knife to remove the insides. Repeat this with the other 4 apple squares until they all look like cups.

You will have to be really careful when using your toothpick, or else you could break the handle or poke a hole into the bottom of the cup. This is why I had an extra apple ready to use, because you will likely break the handle 1/4 - 1/2 of the time.

Apologies if any of this is confusing, I'm not great at describing things. Hopefully the pictures above help clarify this step.

Now that all your mini apple cups are finished, you can fill them with pb or caramel! I personally prefer caramel over peanut butter, but peanut butter is still a great option if you want a healthier snack.

You can now devour your pb/caramel apple cups now, or you can save them for the next bonus step↓

With your extra pieces of apple, you can cut them to whatever size you want. Place them on a plate and pour caramel over them. You could stop there, or like me, you could take a piece of chocolate and a kitchen knife, and made chocolate shavings to sprinkle over it, and then top it with brown sugar. You can now finally enjoy your tasty treat!
