Mini Rocking Chair for a Teddy Bear
Not only humans need chairs. Teddy Bears need a place to relax after a long day of playing and there’s nothing better than a rocking chair to do that. This rocking chair is made entirely out of pallets because they’re free and easy to get hold of. I had lots of fun building it and I hope you will too so lets get started!
Supplies
Materials
- A pallet with boards 100mm wide and 20mm thick
- Some dowel 20mm thick
- Wood glue
- Nails
Tools
- Wood saw
- Jig saw or coping saw
- Rasp
- Chisel
- Sandpaper
- Hammer
Start the Chair Body
Cut out two pieces of pallet wood 200mm long and two pieces 300mm long. Sand them if they are too rough (as pallet wood often is) and glue the pieces together so you have one piece 200x200mm (the chair bottom) and one piece 200x300mm (the chair back).
Finish the Chair Body
With your compasses draw a 100mm diameter semi-circle at the top of the chair back. Cut this out with a jig saw or coping saw. Then print out the teddy bear head template and trace around it in the middle of the chair back and about 70mm down (it doesn’t ready matter how far as long as it looks good). Then cut this out with a jig saw or coping saw. If you find the ear curves are too tight for a jig saw then make lots of parallel cuts to the edge and knock the little bits out with a chisel. Then clean it up with a rasp.

Make the Arms
Cut out two pieces of pallet wood 30mm by 200mm for the arms and cut out two pieces of the dowel 100mm long. Then glue the dowels to the arms in the middle and a few millimetres from the end. Nail or screw them there to make it stronger.
Make the Legs
Print out the template and cut out two pieces of wood from it. Then cut four pieces of dowel 60mm long. Then glue the dowels to the flat edge of the bits of wood 70mm from the ends. Nail or screw them to make them stronger.
Stick It All Together
Glue and nail the arms in place and glue and nail the legs in place. make sure the legs are about 15mm from each edge of the chair bottom. After the glue has dried you can oil it or paint it or varnish it. And then your done!
