Shower Cabin in the Vacation House: Like Brand New! 🚿✨

I’ve been putting this repair off for years (who doesn’t have a procrastination problem, right?). At first, I thought about ripping everything out and installing a new one, but that would’ve been a nightmare—tiles cracking during demolition, long delivery times for custom sizes… nope, not worth it.

After a closer look, the solution turned out to be way simpler: just swap out all the accessories, fittings, and handles.

So, after years of radio silence, here’s my new Instructable. I’m honestly so proud of how it turned out that I had to share it. 😎

Supplies

To get this project rolling, you’ve gotta gather all the supplies first. The most important stuff? Cleaning gear:

  1. multipurpose cleaner,
  2. descaler,
  3. shower glass polish,
  4. maybe even a steam cleaner if you’re feeling fancy.

As for which products to use—yeah, I have no clue. I just went to the store and grabbed whatever looked fine. My girlfriend, on the other hand, could probably write a whole book on this subject...

Then you’ll need replacement parts. In my case:

  1. the roller wheels were shot [eg. https://www.amazon.com/Shower-Rollers-Runners-Pulleys-Diameter/dp/B0DPGHXB4L?th=1],
  2. and all the seals had to go [eg. https://www.amazon.com/shower-door-seal/s?k=shower+door+seal+black].

Everything else, after a good scrub, turned out to be surprisingly decent.

Tear-down & the First Round of Scrubbing

Warning: some of these photos are view at your own risk! ;)

But hey, the fact that I had to stare at this mess up close actually worked in my favor—I got the job done faster and felt way more satisfied once it was all sparkling again.

Still Scrubbing, More Chemistry 🧴🧽

This part took way longer than I thought, but things were finally starting to look pretty good… ✨

For the glass panels I had to break out the power drill with a car-polishing pad — honestly, genius move. 🔧💡

Putting It All Back Together 🧩

Time to reassemble the beast! 🚿🔧 All the shiny rollers, fresh seals, and clean glass finally came together like IKEA on steroids.

Bonus: no missing screws (which is basically a miracle). 🙌

The Grand Finale ✨

And voilà — the results speak for themselves 😎. Sparkly shower cabin, almost showroom-new. The best part? Cost me maybe 10% of what a brand-new cabin would, and that’s not even counting the sweat equity.
