Spider Earring/Hairfork/Finger Ring/Pendant
I read a book "Tin Goyenda" in my childhood, where there was a story about a Silver spider mystery. This was inspired from that. I made the realistic Spider with polymer clay and turned into different wearables like earrings, hairfork, finger ring and pendant.
Supplies
- Black polymer clay
- Wires
- Exacto knife
- Small silicone sculpting tools
- Sculpy's Bake & bond
- Clay softener
- First make 2 polymer clay balls, one small and another a bit larger. stack these 2 putting a bit of bake & bond in between. smaller ball is the spider head and larger one is the body.
- Tnsert 2 tinty narrow wires on the back of the body
- Then take a tiny bit of clay, make a tiny ball out of it and press lightly to flatten it a bit. Attach this on the head . dap exacto knife over the newly attached flattened clay and smoothen it.
- Then take very tiny amount of clay, roll out 2 tiny pointy snakes and attach these on 2 sides of the spider head.
- Bake the spider in the oven according to the clay package instruction.
Now the legs.
- C 4 pieces of wires of same length. ( I used brass wire )
- Put some bake & bond on the wires
- Take a small piece of clay and cover on the middle of a wire.
- Start to roll it and make a little stretch towards the ends of the wire while rolling.
- In the middle, flatten a space according to the spider head length. ( marked red in picture )
- On both of the sides left and right from the mid flattened part, create 5 segments by dabbing a little around the clay stick ( wih exacto knife )
- Take a bit of clay softner on the tip of a silicone sculpting tool and smooth out the shap dabbed segments.
- Do the same on 3 other wires.
- Cuf off the spider body into half.
- Put some bake & bond over the cut surface.
- Put all the 4 legs mid part over the half part of the spider headu
- If you want to make it a hair fork, the put a Hair pin on the back body of the cut surface. And if you want to make if a pendant or hanging earring, then put an eyepin on the back body of the cut surface.
- Put some more bake n bond a some clay over and clode it with the other half part of the spider body.
- Smooth out the edges with sculpting tool.
- Bake it.
- Now Bend the marked segments carefully, resembling to the bends of spider legs.
- If you want to make it silver, then you can paint it with silver acrylic paint or rub n buff.
- If you wete heading for making hairfork, it done here! and if you're going for hanging pendant, then just insert a chain through the eyepin you have attached with the spider. If you are going for hanging spider earring, the attach a chain through the eye pin and a earring hook through the other end of the chain. and if you're going for finger ring, just glue it over a plain ring! Done!
Hope you guys enjoyed the process!
