Very Simple 3D Printed Air Purifier (HEPA/Activated Charcoal) From PC Fans With LED Underglow
This is a 3D printed air purifier using a pleated HEPA 13 filter as well as an activated charcoal filter. The design has been tested via a wind tunnel and air chamber test and has shown significant changes to air quality in terms of PM2.5s, PM10s and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). This was designed as an undergraduate engineering project by a team of six over the course of a few weeks.

Supplies
The image shows a complete list of everything you need.
The above link shows our bill of materials.
Attached is our CAD as a .step, all of the 3D printing files are shown as .stl and the laser cutting files are .dxf.
Please see the manual shown below before trying to understand what each part is/does. All 3D printed parts were made from PLA except from the gaskets, which were TPU. The casing was laser grade poplar finished plywood.

Electronics
The image shows the electrical circuit. We are using 12V input and 12V 5W PC fans. There is also a PWM fan controller with a dial to control the fan speed. There is a 2A fuse, two SPST rocker switches and a fan/Y splitter. Quite a straightforward circuit. Everything was soldered together aside from the wire splitter and the PC fans, which has designated inputs.
Assembly
The attached pdf shows the recommended steps for assembly with visuals on how to do it. The black rubber feet at the start are optional but are just cut from a thin sheet of rubber from amazon.
